Gonna hang here a bit.

Postby mamame » Tue Oct 28, 2014 1:16 pm

I'll take your prayers and advice.

Went for my first ever mammogram yesterday. Just because I'm supposed to. Nothing to worry about. They told me to allow 30 minutes so I gave myself 1 hour before my next appt.
Got my scans done and was right on time (just feeling a little bruised) when the tech said not to change and to have a seat she wanted to doctor to look at the images first.
Well that's not good.
So sure enough they wanted more scans - I told them I had another appt in the building and could I come back? (my family has lumpy breast and our scans always come back abnormal) the tech put her hand on my shoulder and said "no, you really need to do this now"
Oh ok. Not good.
Did the additional scans and could still make the appt just a tad late. No dice. The doctor is reading them as they are being taken and now wants an ultrasound.
I go to another room expecting the tech but instead the radiologist comes in herself to do it.
Long story short:
2 areas of concern, 1 very low concern one high. mass about 1 cm with its own blood supply
I go for a biopsy on Monday and then meet with the surgeon after the results are back. They said greater than 79% chance it's cancer. (Odd number!)
The scanned my lymph nodes and said they are really fine and so is the rest off my breast. She was specifically looking for areas of increased blood flow that form to support tumors as they spread. She said that is very good news.

So I'm concentrating on that and trying not to be consumed by it.

Even though I work in health care I do critical and palliative care. The people I see are the ones who aren't going to make it. That skews my reality (in all areas) so I am trying to stay aware of that.

Praying for you! I had a suspicious mass this year that turned out to be benign. I understand how scary it can be.
I have found the one whom my soul loves.

Awesome update. First biopsy was free of cancer. Two doctors had to sign off on it because it was so unlikely. I still have to have surgery and send the lump to pathology but my odds are way better now.

Prayer made this happen.

A long time ago--probaby 25 years ago or so--a little girl in my Sunday school class suddenly couldn't walk. Her hip hurt. According to nurses that went to my church, this is always cancer. She was admitted to hospital. I took Jr to go visit and they played almost all day.

It was infection. God did it.

About three years later the same thing happened to a little boy.

God shows himself to prove that doctors don't know everything and that we should only trust him and not be afraid.

Well done, sweetie.
