What are your thoughts on "Keep Walking"

Postby Cayenne » Tue Oct 18, 2016 11:23 am

I ran across this book for wives recovering from the betrayal of their husbands porn use and wondered if anyone has read it and if it's helpful.

Keep Walking: 40 Days To Hope And Freedom After Betrayal By Lynn Marie Cherry.

Thank you in advance for your thoughts.

I have not heard of that book. My therapist reccommended a few and I have started to read those. If you are interested in the titles let me know. One is very good and informative.

I would be interested in the titles, thanks.

I just read an article by the author of Keep Walking and appreciated it.

This is what I am reading now on the recommendation of my therapist. I am a very need-to-know, detailed person and this has been helpful. I don't want to read books based on scriptures, etc so this is perfect.

The author of your book is the daughter of Patrick Carnes, I believe, who is highly acclaimed. I'll look at it more. I've had a friend who is a SA therapist recommend several of Patrick's books.

My problem with most books (and reading here) is that they share the stories of real people. While normally that's a good thing for an author to do, for me..... well, let's just say that when someone's story is worse than mine I start thinking "what makes me think he's any different than these other men..." well, when you consider how horrible some people's stories are, it's logical that my husband isn't necessarily as bad. The problem is that emotionally I am not able to separate it and I fear the worst, then start grieving all over again. So truly it's not the fault of the books, it's the fault of my own way of thinking. At this point I have pretty much isolated myself from any depth of interaction with most all people, and just try not to think too much. Every so often, though, I get an article in my email from a website I subscribed to, and the title caught my attention enough to read it. I noticed the author of the article also wrote Keep Walking. I was hoping maybe someone here has read it.

It is a very factual book and not stories. The new therapist I have (who is a CSAT) was trained under Patrick Carnes. I completely agree with you on listening to other stories because it does trigger you. In the past I had to remove myself from boards for that very reason. I don't deny problems or possibly that there could be more than what I know. He is doing well in his treatment and I am satisfied with my new therapist. I can't guarantee that I will be there in the end but I am trying the best that I can. Is your husband in any type of treatment?
