Please keep me in your prayers

Postby GuyIncognito2099 » Thu Dec 22, 2016 12:34 pm

Hello Marriage Bed community, I ask that you please keep me in your prayers.

I have struggled with pornography most of my life - since I was about 8, and I think it's fairly safe to say I was/am addicted.

Praise God, I was able to kick viewing porn a couple years ago before I got married to my incredible wife. However, this past year has been very rough on us emotionally and financially, and just the other day we received some troubling news (that I can't get into atm). Because of being down from that news, temptation for me has been hounding me recently and I've been closer to slipping than I'd like. Praise God, I haven't, but it's a tough going. And for some reason or another, I'm especially tempted by [a particular type of pornography] (among others) - which is one I really struggled with before stopping.

I've taken measures to have things installed on the laptop to block things, but vivid memories are hitting too.

Please keep me in your prayers and that I will be able to weather this season, and take every thought captive. I do not want to dishonor my wife or God by falling back into this sinful life style.

Thank you for your time and prayers.

I am praying for you right now, one thing I am praying is that you will walk in the Spirit so you don't fulfill the desires of your flesh.
God can change what people do, behavioral patterns that have been in play for decades. He can change what we do to cope, find comfort, survive conflict, to count. Rahab had done a same old thing for years...then she did something new.

Praying that God will keep you from temptation. When you are weak, you are strong, as His strength is made perfect in weakness.
You are much stronger than you think; I struggle with the same problem, and it sounds like you're doing better than me. God bless, and may He fill you with His love and grace.

Thank you both again. Praise be to God, things have been getting better and temptation hasn't been as strong recently.

Praying you continue to stand firm.

God is great! He gives us a way out of temptation, and yet, even when we fall, if we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins. His greatness, and His grace and mercy, is very humbling. May His face shine upon you and may He continue to do mighty things in your life, binding up brokenness, giving liberty to where you are captive, and proclaiming favor over you.
