ED Problem Solved!

Postby MyWifesMan » Mon Oct 11, 2010 1:45 pm

I just thought I'd share something that completely SOLVED an ED problem I previously had. First off, I'm 53. Around the time I turned 50, I noticed I needed a lot more sexual stimulation from my wife, before getting very firm. A bit of background: my job had me at a desk all day long, and I'd really neglected my exercise. I did notice that whenever I exercised consistently (I like to powerwalk - as fast as humanly possible for a half hour a day - gives me a great workout and it is MUCH easier on the knees than running), my libido somewhat improved, as slightly did my erection ability, HOWEVER, the inconsistency of firmness remained obvious. Anyway, I happened to begin taking FISH OIL supplements (I take four 1,000 mgs per day) and relatively quickly - WHAMO - I'M BACK BABY!!! I started noticing sensation in my penis during the day and waking up with the "tent pole." Now, instead of struggling to a flimsy erection with help, I'm back to being "Banana Bob," with just a glimpse of my wife's beautiful breasts, my penis is curving back and pointing up just like when I was much younger. Now I can be dozing on the couch and wake up with a ferocious erection, which is amazing. I read that fish oil and essential fatty acids can be very important to sexual function. Wow, so I was deficient in EFAs, and the fish oil absolutely restored me. With consistent exercise and powerwalking, my circulation and libido get much better, but the fish oil did the trick in bringing back strong erections even before I started back on exercise. I thank God for showing me the problem, and I truly hope this post helps someone!

I tried fish oils and similar supplements a while back and liked the idea of them, but they seemed to slightly upset my stomach and sent me to the bathroom. Did you have any digestive issues after starting the oils?

Great news, joe!
I have a couple questions, too. Exactly what brand name fish oil caps did you use? How long after you began taking them did you see good results?
Thanks!

The fish oil I take is enteric-coated capsules (prevents burping fish breath - you never taste or smell it) manufactured by Heart Health and with a Rexall label. I just bought them at the dollar store. They never bothered my stomach whatsoever. I take 1,000 mg /2x day. Results began within a week of beginning them. What happened was I used to take a multi-vitamin ("Dr. Burgstiner's Complete Thymic Forumula" - about 3 tablets 2x/day) - really picked me up, energy-wise. My immune specialist HIGHLY recommended them - and rightfully so. Anyway, I also had begun taking the fish oil for cholesterol control. I began both supplements back before I noticed any problems with erection quality. There were periods when I ran out or was lax about taking both supplements and this was about the same time I noticed there was a HUGE (sorry for the pun) difference in erections when taking them - I first thought it was the multi-vitamin - which my endocrinologist scoffed at. Later I ran out of the multivitamin and just quit taking both it and fish oil - and immediately began to lose sensations, morning "attent-hut," sexual interest. While waiting on my Thymic Formula to come in the mail, I happened to begin my fish oil regimen by itself - BAM! Within 4 - 7 days (maybe less) I began getting sporadic erections just sitting on the couch and strong morning erections. I was wracking my brain, thinking it was something in my diet, when it hit me - IT'S THE FISH OIL! And so it was! Apparently essential fatty acids are very important to my "best buddy's" optimum performance! I can also say that exercising the lower extremities - legs, especially, through power walking, light running, also increases sex drive, but the fish oil alone DEFINITELY made the difference for me. Hope this helps someone.

MyWifesMan FISH OIL supplements (I take four 1,000 mgs per day)

MWM,
Please clarify for me. Did you take 4,000mg per day until you experienced improvement and now take 2,000mg per day as maintenance?

I began my fish oil at the same dosage I currently take (four 1,000 mg capsules per day - split into 2,000 mg @ 2x/day). Make sure to get the enteric coated capsules, so you don't deal with smell, taste or aftertaste. The bottle recommends 3,000 mgs per day, preferably taken with meals - yet, often, I've taken them without meals, so go figure what's best. Fish oil is also known to lower cholesterol, puts shine in your hair and I can tell a big difference in how much better it aids in making bowel movements more regular and "easier." I've read where studies think it might aid in Alzheimer's prevention. One thing of interest, I never had ANY problem until I got just past 50, long neglected exercise, became overweight - just sitting on my rear behind a desk all day (NOT good). BEFORE my problem got very noticeable, I nonetheless could definitely tell I performed better with regular exercise and when my weight was down, but let me emphasize that my "rebound" quickly happened WITHOUT significant exercise and while STILL somewhat (ok, VERY) overweight. So in addition to fish oil, I am convinced that regular exercise bodes well for Willie's good function, and God obviously created us to keep moving. Modern lifestyles, office work and processed foods truly are hazardous to our health!

I've NEVER had a problem at all with "fish burps." But if he does have a problem with that, a simple remedy is to buy fish oil in which the capsuls are "enteric coated."

My DH was advised to take fish oil capsules in addition to his testosterone replacement, and the doctor recommended a certain brand that were lemon flavored to prevent fish burps. Unfortunately, DH finds the "lemon burps" to be just as unpleasant. I wonder why it is that fish oil causes burping at all? He and I take a boatload of other medications in varying forms, but never burp or taste any of those. I think I will look into some of the enteric-coated capsules you mentioned. DH's doctor doesn't advise buying any commercially available fish oil capsules though because of the lax testing for toxins in them and the fluctuating levels of actual beneficial ingredients. We get the capsules from the same compounding pharmacy that provides DH's testosterone pellets.

What about eating real fish? I sometimes have "hot chilli pilchards" for breakfast. I've not noticed any ensuing burps.

Reporting in here. Hubby has been following MyWifesMan's advice since mid-Oct. and he's experiencing the same positive results. We found Kirkland brand enteric-coated Omega 3 fish oil capsules at Costco. They are 1200mg caps and he now takes one per day. He only had one burping episode and he attributes that to taking the pill on an empty stomach.

We were among the group of people disappointed by the reformulation of Prolatis. The original formula gave us amazing results. Hubby tried taking supplements of Horny Goat Weed (main ingredient in the new Prolatis) at the recommendation of a GNC salesperson, but that didn't do a thing. We are thankful that MWM posted his story. It really has made a difference.

Update on Fish Oil ED Cure

Postby MyWifesMan » Mon Dec 27, 2010 10:32 am

Well, after several months, I have now FIRMLY established that my ED problem was indeed a problem due to my deficiency in EFAs (essential fatty acids). Ever since starting the fish oil (2,000 mgs 2x/day) I have been able to quickly get a firm erection and, just as in years past, also wake up with an erection. This is an amazing turn-around. I began to ponder why I became deficient in EFAs to begin with. My analysis shows why: In an effort to lower my cholesterol counts and generally eat better, I had cut out almost all animal sources of EFAs. I also rarely ate fish, shrimp or other seafood that would provide them. So it makes complete sense as to why I developed the problem, and likely, a lot of people out there have it as well, as they've gotten older and have greatly restricted unhealthy sources of EFAs without adding healthy sources for them. Also, I can say it is so true, the more you have sex, the more you want it. Also the reverse is true, when you are having problems physically, many avoid sex, as a lack of confidence or unpredictability in equipment performance is very stressful - and stress sure can greatly limit desire. I'm just extremely grateful to God that He showed me what my problem was.

I know this post is old and I only found it whislt searching on the benefits of fish oil.
My story is quite short but hopefully beneficial.
I had some cancer treatment a few years ago (I'm 61) that ruined my penis sensitivity and even though the sex drive was still there, physically I wasn't. I had trouble getting hard or maintaining it. I even thought of getting those little blue pills.
Anyway, I suffer badly from migraines and have done for nearly 50 years. Recently I started taking 2000mg fish oil a day and noticed a drop in frequency and intensity in the migraines.
I ran out of supply and started searching online for a decent bulk supplier and found this. I was intrigued.
I bought the tablets (amazon) and started with 2x1000 in the morning and same in the evening. Within 3 days I was waking with stirrings I've never really had before. Within 1 week my erections were bigger, stronger and more frequent. I worried if I'd lose the hardness during intercourse but no, it was like turning the clock back 20 years. And my wife swears the old chap is looking bigger!
Another side effect I've noticed is clearer thinking and I'm sure my clarity of vision has improved.
So many many thanks to the original poster. I just hope the effects last for many years to come (excuse the pun!).

As my post on fish oil (above) is nearly five years old, my take on this supplement is that diet does play a part in erection issues. For whatever reason, at the time, the fish oil appeared to wake me up sexually. I still take it, but just two 1,000 mg/2x per day. Today, as I've posted, the L-Arginine/L-Citruline makes a huge difference for me. It appears to have affect upon both libido and erection quality. Whenever I get off of it/run out of it, my drive significantly diminishes, my stiffness ability isn't nearly as good. At least for me, the stuff works GREAT! I'd say anyone experiencing lesser quality erections should try the L-Arginine/L-Citrulline - certainly before going the blue pill route or other options.

My DH takes 600 mg of L-Arginine with great success. I make sure he will never runs out. I keep 3 bottles around at all times. I might consider buying some enteric-coated fish oil for DH but I do have one question. We eat our own farm raised meat (both pork and beef and some chicken). Is essential fatty acids only found in seafood and fish? These are things we would have to buy to eat so it likely will not happen. DH will, on the other hand, buy supplements for a purpose.

After reading this string I started taking a 1400 mg fish oil pill each morning. After two weeks I am seeing an improvement in EQ. I will try two of these tablets to see how things go. I am 62 and an 11 year prostate cancer survivor.

No. There are vegetarian sources of EFAs:
http://plenteousveg.com/vegan-sources-omega-3/

I don't know if there are non-vegetarian sources of EFAs other than fish or not.

Fish and seafood are the only sources of EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) & DHA (docosahexaenoic acid ). EFAs get converted to EPA & DHA so supposedly you don't need fish/seafood. Provided the conversion is working properly. If you're concerned, just buy fish oil tablets, or put in a pond :D.

^^^Put in a pond...that's something Farmer would do. When I was first married, I complained to Farmer that molasses cookies were expensive to make because molasses was expensive for just a small little, bitty bottle. Farmer told me he's got me covered. He came home from the neighbors with the front end loader full of parts. I would later find out that he bought their sorghum press. Yes, you guessed it. I now make my own molasses, no more buying expensive bottles of bitter molasses. Sorghum molasses tastes sweet and delicious. The molasses cookies tastes really good. So, you see, building a pond is not out of the question. Please don't mention it to Farmer. I can only imagine the work involved. I'm buying the fish oil instead.
