L-Arginine is necessary for Nitrous Oxide production, which is needed for erections. L-Citrulline gets converted to L-Argenine, and is considered safer than taking L-Arginine directly.

L-Citruline also helps prevent muscle soreness from exercise. L-Citrulline is usually mixed with Malic Acid to enhance this effect.

In my experience, it takes about three days to take effect.

I have never heard anyone claim it boosts testosterone.

Farmer has been taking L-Arginine for quite some time now. He has a very effective response. He no longer loses an erection since taking the supplement. He also takes BP meds too but I made sure that the doc put him on erection-friendly stuff. He's 58 and we have sex almost every night. He takes 2 capsules of 500 mg (1000 mg in total) of L-Arginine daily in the morning. The inexpensive Spring Valley L-Arginine brand is found at Walmart here in MN. It's so inexpensive that I almost laugh when I wipe out their supply that was sitting on their shelf. I make sure he has a good supply at home. It's also good for his ticker too.

Ledgemoor: In my experience, it takes about three days to take effect.

This is my experience as well. If I run out, the optimum result shows up after about 3 days of 2x/day dosing (scoop each). Make SURE you are taking this on an empty stomach, per the directions. If I totally run out - because of bad planning/don't want to pay overnight/next day cost - that is about how long it takes. Without it in my system, I don't notice morning wood. But as soon as it kicks in, EVERY morning there's a tent pole.

Still getting good results with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D94KD92?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00 Beware products with more per bottle of the product that is sold cheaper - as it likely has a lot more sugar substitute. Save money if you order three units.

No, I am pretty much vegan except for honey & occasional ice cream and cheese.

I take 5000 IU of vitamin D daily unless I am in the sun a lot, which isn't often. I suspect that the reason fish oil works for some people is that they had a D deficiency.

Well, I had cut my fish oil intake in half. Looking back at old posts, I realize when I ramped it up, I got a very noticable reaction. Guess I got concerned about some supposed links with cancer and fish oil - probably a correlation between people already with prostate cancer who immediately jumped on taking fish oil. I may go back to 2,000 mgs / 2x day.

Based on the success stories in this topic, I tried fish oil (4000/day) and L-Arginine, for about a month. Made zero difference for me. Glad it is helping others.

For me it took testosterone to cure ED. Even Cialis and Viagra did nothing for me before that.

I have to say that T therapy plus Cialis is the magic bullet for DH too. He still takes other supplements, but without these two on board, erections are very hit-or-miss for him. At least until he's gone at least 3-4 days without any release. And then we get the other problem: PE :(

What are your T levels?

My levels are OK, but on the low end. But I recently found a supplement that was extremely effective in giving me a quality erection. It is called Male Response, and it contains Yohimbe as well as other herbs and the L-arginine.

I had an erection off and on all night long (mostly on) and I didn't really sleep either. Because of the side effects, you might try taking just one pill instead of all 3 as recommended, but if you are having that much trouble, it could be worth a try.

I haft handle yohimbe so I don't use it. One thing I have had success with is horny goat weed. I have used GNC brand. It seems to increase my sexual sensitivity.

Several years ago I had my T levels tested, more for low energy and mild depression than for ED, which wasn't an issue at the time. My T was low, so I've been on shots for a few years & get tested regularly. My levels are great.

The ED isn't complete--it's just that, rather suddenly this year (when I've had tons of stress anyhow), it's started to take much longer to get ready for PIV and I don't get as firm. Also, I stopped ever waking up in the morning being hard, which used to be a regular occurrence. Maybe it's just getting older, exacerbated by the stress of the year (moving to a new city, new job, new church, wife with a mood disorder). But as the stress has reduced, the ED hasn't gone away.

I probably won't go to a doctor about it until I'm a complete loss. Then I will consider a pump or a pill, I guess. But I did want to report back to the group on the fish oil and L-arginine not helping.

One of the big causes of ED, especially if it is combined with loss of morning erections would be high estradiol. Estradiol tends to go up in men with age, but testosterone replacement makes it go up even more. Especially in the case of infrequent large injections. Does your doctor monitor your estradiol level?

And of course I forgot to ask about monitoring estradiol. But he will follow up with me after I get my T checked next week, so I can ask then. Meanwhile he gave me some expensive pills...just took the first (half) one of single use Cialis. Will see if I notice anything.

Wow, so many things to try this new year. So far the 300mg of grape seed extract with L-Arginine pyroglutamate 2 gram has not made a difference.(2 weeeks)
Trying the fish oil 1200mg X day. I have tried the Cialis 20mg, yeah it works, but trying to avoid the cost and long shipping times. (from India)

Wish all a happy new year. 2016 God Bless all.

Update after 8 months; things still good! Things I discovered (for me); cayenne pepper did not work (just gave me heartburn), stopped the fish oil afer a few months after I started experiencing pain and stiffness in my hamstrings, quads and glutes (at one stage I couldn't walk downstairs). About 5 days later everything was back to normal.
So this left L Citruline. I buy the bulk malate powder from Amazon and take a small teaspoon twice a day with warm water. As I can say all is good on the erection front, still very hard and last a long time! Oh, I did try l citruline capsules when I went on holiday as I thought a large quantity of white powder looked suspicious!. The capsules didn't work for me.
