Just a word of warning - if you have high triglycerides then I would avoid cayenne pepper as a supplement or at least talk to your doctor first. It put me in the hospital with pancreatitis.

OK, figured what the heck, I already am a big vitamin freak already, I'll try almost anything once. Combo didn't produce an extra big erection, but maybe a noticebly harder one/ones to a degree, and maybe a little bit more longevity/lasting power. Woke up in the early AM to pee with an extra hard jimmie a few times as well. [mod edit]; it is a shame to not use a perfectly good and hard erection. :D

I tried the cayenne/garlic route at 8:15 last night hoping to see some results. I did at 2 am. I was bigger and fatter than I can remember. It occurred again at 3. I was stiff enough for PIV but did not wake dear wife. My digestion is slow since i have no gall bladder. So timing will be a guess. No heartburn. But i am smiling over a good erection.

Yes, about two hours beforehand, those are the correct dosages - put something soothing on your stomach, even if just some crackers and milk - just not on an empty stomach.

Frankly, as the L-Citrulline/L-arginine I later discovered (referenced here: http://www.boards.themarriagebed.com/viewtopic.php?f=23&t=59724&start=20) works so well, I haven't used the combo above in quite awhile. I may again, just for an experiment.

Yes, this combo works for me, on the two hour mark. The EQ was there but soft, enough for a PIV quickie. I will try the L-Citrulline/L-arginine combo later in the month and report back. Thanks for your reply MWM. ::tnx

Give it 4 to 8 days, at my recommended (and per the supplement's instructions) - one of the supplied plastic scoop, 2x day. VERY important, take either between meals or on an empty stomach. One key indication that the supplement is beginning to work is that you will wake up with erections or will have them throughout the night. Otherwise, you may not just spontaneously sprout "wood," but physical stimulation and sexual proximity will reveal its effectiveness. Also, one might, over time, need a higher dose than what you started with. Apparently, the optimum dose varies, person to person. I started with a capsule version - at a good bit less product per dose - and found that a higher dose worked a LOT better.

There are times when I have not planned correctly and so I run out of the powder before the next order arrives. As it takes 2-4 days to kick back in - that is, if you been off of it for a week or so - I like to take some loading doses that are larger than what my maintenance dose is.

So if I understand this thread correctly:

- the garlic/cayenne combo is taken "the night of", as in two hours before you plan to need it

But

- the amino acid combo is a daily thing, like a regular health supplement, taken consistently regardless of whenever you have special activities planned

Correct?

I admit I'm skeptical of the testimonies -- if it's so easy to get such great results with supplements, how is there even a market for viagra/cialis? Surely there's a catch somewhere?

But I am gonna go Google around and *maybe* pick one to try. Not having major issues, but I'm not 23 anymore either.

I'm doing L-Citrulline/L-arginine daily but now and then I hit a slump. Cayenne sometimes helps at those times, but I've only been taking 500mg so I may step that up.

Yes, the garlic/cayenne combo perhaps 90 minutes before - that is, IF you need it on top of the l-citrulline/l-arginine powder. Once I discovered the powder, I have rarely used the combo. And, yes, the powder is a daily thing (2x/day on empty stomach).

No catch. The combo works by increasing circulation/blood flow. The powder ONLY works if your issue is a decrease in nitric oxcide - which is very common thing in men past 45 or 50 - and, increasingly so. I was pleasantly surprised how well the powder works. The issue is not a lot of people know about these natural approaches. Also, physicians are extremely pharmaceutical-oriented, and are apt to prescribe whatever Big Pharma is marketing. It may be that these natural approaches work great and for a very long time. But there may come a time when the prescription route is necessary.

I would definitely recommend trying a more natural approach FIRST - which is safer and much less likely to have side effects. Next to no physician is going to reccomend natural approaches - even ones that have a great track record or good studies to shoe their effacy. Yes, there is a tremendous amount of hype that is typical of many supplement manufacturers' products. But these are two approaches that have worked consistently for me, and that others have vouched for. Again, only at night/mornings, do I get spontaneous erections with the powder. And neither the powder or the combo otherwise work without stimulation or sexual proximity. Lastly, the natural approach is FAR cheaper.

It has a grape flavor it. I don't mind.

MWM and others. I've got a question for y'all. When I went to the cayenne pepper article it was loaded with praise for lots of good benefits of cayenne pepper, circulation, bowels, helps against heart disease and heart attack...

Why did you give up on cayenne and go for the Citrulline/Arginine combo instead? What benefits does it give?

Seems to me that I read once about athletes using Arginine when they are working out really hard to help build/repair muscles? Does that sound familiar?
Reason I ask is I'm in my 50s now and it seems that my muscles are often sore for many days from even moderate exercise. I wondered whether I should use Arginine even just to help build up my muscles that seem to be taking so long to get over the soreness?

One last question. I have cold hands and feet. Does cayenne help any of you guys with this? It improves when I'm good about staying at my sprint intervals training, but if cayenne helps too, that'd be good.

L-Citrulline Mallate works great for preventing muscle soreness from exercising. I started taking it to improve erections, and noticed that I no longer got leg soreness from mountain biking. Not long afterwards there was an article in Bicycling magazine about it.

I take 6 grams per day of a 2 parts L-citrulline to 1 part Mallic Acid. A 1:1 mix may be better for muscle soreness.

Interesting thread, specially today as I am sore in my legs after a 50K trail run I did yesterday in really challenging terrain (1500 meter/4500 feet altitude gain).
My favorite bar that I eat on these long training runs contain nuts, dried fruit and quite a lot of cayenne, the cayenne really help a lot when I'm running in cold weather to keep circulation up to feet and hands.
I'll try the L-citrulline Mallic Acid combination as I'm now ramping up my training for an upcoming 100Mile trail ultra.
Do you have any more suggestions to recuperate faster when endurance training?
Edited to add:
Ginger seems to have a similar effect for me and I also often make smoothies with ginger, raspberry, spinach and apple juice after runs to help with recuperation.

Job, it's not that I gave up on the cayenne pepper/garlic combo. Eventually, the combo did not work as well as it long did - likely because of my diminishing production of nitric oxide. I am constantly researching health-related products, and so I came across some intriguing information and research, first, concerning L-Citrulline, and later, the supposed greater effectiveness of the L-Citrulline/L-Arginine powder. After long using the combo, I next tried L-citrulline capsules and got good results - seemingly more so when in conjunction with the combo. Only after discovering the powder did I stop the combo completely, as it worked so incredibly well. Also, the combo needs a 90-minute or so pre-sex ingestion. The combo also is best taken with something on your stomach, to avoid any gastro distress. Besides working so well, taken twice daily, the powder stays in your system, so no planning is necessary, no worries about having food on your stomach - which is an obvious advantage.

For some people, taking both the powder and the combo might be a needed and effective alternative to Viagra, etc. - as opposed to only using either the combo or the powder alone. And, I can't stress enough, if a diminished production of nitric oxide is not your problem, the powder isn't going to help with erections. However, the diminishment of nitric oxide production Is VERY common to guys 45+, but you won't realize this before taking something that will increase the production. Studies have shown that L-Arginine and L-Citrulline, when taken together, is far more effective than using either by itself - which was my experience in going from just L-Citrulline capsules alone.

I use the product I do because it is sugar-free and the sugar substitute used appears to be far less than other brands of the same product. I think other manufacturers of similar products have less of the effective ingredients and too much sugar substitute - giving the false impression of the amount of actual effective product.

I would say that the cayenne/garlic combo might work well if your erection issue isn't terribly bad - it's certainly the cheapest option. The next step up would be the powder. I can't see why anyone wouldn't try one or even both of these before taking pharmaceuticals. Thing is, we all have differing results with various products.

2. What produces needed nitric oxide in the body in the first place?
3. What makes it diminish?
4. How does a guy learn whether he's got low nitric oxide?

For the past few mornings I've taken 2 capsules of that 100,000 unit Cayenne Cool that you recommend, and two capsules of Kyolic garlic. It has produced a warm sensation in my thighs and stomach within 15 minutes, and a warming of my cold feet and hands, and even a bit of "tingly" sensation in my penis. Unfortunately Sarah is out of state for a few weeks so I can't really check up on it's other qualities right now :(

I use a product called Beet It to boost NO in preparation for ultra races.
It's concentrated beet root and from what I have learned it's useful for boasting for an event but if you use it continuously it loses its effect.
I haven't noticed any difference in terms of erections but those times I'm pretty focused on the upcoming race.
