Hot Flash in Men causes ED???

Postby Iwms1975 » Wed Feb 28, 2018 6:23 am

Hello I’m new here and looking for some good information and help. I posted this on th wrong spot earlier.
I’m a WM 42 5’9” 260 ( losing weight now goal is 200) non smoker or drug user I have one or two mixed drinks a month before bed. I work outside 9-10 months a year in Landscaping and commercial fishing.

I started testosterone treatment in May 2017 because of a lack of energy and not able to lose weight but no sexual problems. My PC doctor tested showed 269 for my T 2 days later at the Men’s Wellness Center they said my T was 156. So I started treatment I saw increased energy as they adjusted the dose but in the first week of October my issues started. I began having trouble maintaining a erecting. I get hot in the head, face and neck my DW said I’m flush and feel like on fire. Once this starts it’s over until i cool off. I had my 6 month recheck in the beginning of November they said my T was 1126 and estrogen was 31 I started anastrozole 1 mg every Tuesday. The hot flashes have gotten worse and start to cause issues with my DW as she said I’m not turned on by her. I had a recheck in December and February my estrogen is at 27 both times and doctors said it in the range but they don’t know of every hearing if hot flashes and sweating causing ED. They act like men can’t have a hot flash

I told the doctors office yesterday I was going to discontinue T treatment do to this. I then meet a guy at the office having the same issues we talked about what we had found out about the issues and it seems most sites men said leaves need to be close to 20 for The estrogen. He was taking 1.5 mg of anastrozole a week he was mid 50’s but in great shape.

I need help my DW thinks it a issue with her I have tried Viagra to try to cover it some but the hot flash hits I stay hard but can’t finish. I have been hiding the fact of Viagra use until a few nights ago I just couldn’t lie anymore or make excuses . She knows all the other stuff and I share what I find online about my issues and she has done a bunch of research. I did not have a ED issue before treatment I hate to give up my energy as I lose that at 40 just started felling tried all the time but we had sex 4-5 times a week sometimes multiple times a day.

She has asked me to have an fling to see if it’s her it’s missing with her mind and self confidence. I worried it’s going to ruin my marriage if I can’t fix this.I’m not going anywhere I love my DW.

What is your hematocrit level? I would also go to ExcelMale website and post there. The most knowledgeable people of an T forum. Also a couple of TRT doctors post there. My first thought was it's you Estrogen. High or low can both cause hot flashes. Any joint aches?

I had hot flashes and ED was high. Optional estradiol levels will depend somewhat on your SHBG levels. Low SHBG means you won’t tolerate high estradiol. How are you receiving the testosterone? What dose? How often? Your levels are pretty high, which will increase estradiol more. You might do better with levels closer to 700-900. How often are you taking the anostrazole?

There’s your problem. I’m concerned about your doctor’s knowledge level of testosterone replacement therapy. Where in your cycle was your testosterone measured? Right before the next injection? Mid cycle?

Injections should be no fewer than once a week. Otherwise, you’ll get a huge spike in testosterone and then crash before your next injection, and you’ll get a lot of estrogen conversion during the spike. You are dealing with wide variations in testosterone and probably estrogen as well. I do self injections in small doses (40 mg) every other day.

Are you allowed to do your own injections?

Also, testosterone can be injected subcutaneously which can be done with very small needles. This makes frequent injections not such a big deal.

Everyone’s sensitivity to anostrazole is different. I take 0.05 mg every 5 days. Other men and take over 1.0 mg/week.

^^^ Spot on! I missed that. One injection every 2 weeks is a roller coaster ride. No wonder he feels lousy. I inject twice a week. Some do 3 times a week and some do daily to maintain consistent levels. My E crashed - wen to about 10. I backed off and take .25 mg once a week. I have labs dues so will see where it is. I have high SHBG.

I get my shot on Monday morning around 10am the next coming Monday at 10 they do blood work. I can do at home injections but I paid for a full year without realizing they where a bunch of quacks. I was going to home injections but they said it took a few months to get at home meds to start delivery I looked at having it filled myself but after the cost and having paid for a whole year stayed with them. I should of known when I was starting that the first visit I had a prescription for Viagra hey sample packet given to someone with no ED problems it was a scam.
They increased my shot to 250mg in mid September that’s when my issues started. Mid September my T was in the low 700 and I was losing weight and felt like my old self. Sex has always been good and fun my wife said it lasted to long but it always worked.

Now I have trouble preforming and even issues on my own. I’m going crazy and my wife is having issues because of it.
I’m new to this so some of the terms people use I’m not understanding but I will as anything to the doctors office if I can get the right terminology. Hey they said men don’t have hot flashes so I’m not too lost.

I’m changing doctors in May hoping for better results just trying to get where my happy place is for now. I will be doing my own injections then hopefully weekly.

Sounds like a scam.. Months to get home delivery? Nonsense. I saw your post at the other site. I also saw the responses. I think they may be right about the estradiol. Mh original doc didn't do the sensitive estradiol. My E came back like 90. He put me on 1mg AI a week. Way too high. When I left him for Defy the sensitive E test was much lower. I still did .25 of AI twice a week but my E when to 10. Now I only take .25 AI when I feel symptomatic. Hope you get on the right track.

I just called the doctors of it’s The Men’s Wellness Center. They told me they do the E2 test is that the sensitive one. I googled it and it seems like the right one but I’m still studying on the subject.
27pg/ml was my last numbers

My erections are not as firm as they where before the hot flashes but I had hot flashes in first of October and did not start 1mg of Anastrozole until a month after the flashes started. They did increase my dose of Testosterone in September could my T levels be to high I was happy before the increase.

The increased T may be driving your E. Don't get discouraged, it takes a while to get dialed in. Have you tried L-Citrulline? It will help to increase your Nitric Oxide which is important for erections. There are other threads here about it. It works for me. Also, I combine Cialis and Viagra. I take 5mg of Cialis every day and on "romantic days" i will take 50 mg of Viagra a couple of hours after the Cialis.

T-Pellets V/S Injections ??? Lab test needs??

Postby Iwms1975 » Thu Mar 08, 2018 8:29 pm

Saw a new Doctor today @ a seminar they where given on men and women hormone Wellness. They recommended switching from injections to pellets. They said it was less Maintance but I would be stuck into it for 3-4 months. I’m not sure if I’m not comfortable with making a change until my hot flashes are fixed. They did talk about how my T should be tested in more then just total T as it is now.

What test should I have done I have new labs in a week from Monday?

Thoughts on pellets ???

Not a good idea. Pellets are more profitable for the doctors, but not generally the best for the patient. Are these the same doctors who were prescribing injections every two weeks? I know of at least two men and one woman who didn’t have good luck with pellets, so they discontinued them. You can’t adjust the dose, and they don’t give you a stable dose throughout the cycle. I read a doctor’s warning about not being able to lower the dose if you run into complications. I’d highly recommend getting your hot flashes under control using small frequent injections along with figuring out your optimum dose of anostrazole. Having said that, I seem to remember someone in this forum who claimed to have good results with pellets, but he’s the only person that I know who has had a good experience.

My doctor also checks free and bioavailabile testosterone during the initial labs, but uses total for monitoring the dose.

I know it’s different for women but I’ve had extremely good results with pellets. However—the dose is MUCH smaller for women and easier to get right the first time. I think cost depends on who’s doing it and your area. For ME the dose is stable until it wears off—I don’t notice fluctuations. But again—as a women I’m getting a MUCH lower dose. But I agree—starting a new regimen before being finding out what’s going on with the hot flashes isn’t probably the best.

This is a new doctor office I can’t get an appointment until May unless someone cancels. They do a 1.5 hr appointment for new people plus labs have to be within a week of the appointment . They did give me some stuff to talk to my doctor that I have now to see if I can get right before switching or having to wait till May with issues. Also she wants the complete chart of what they have done and my doses. She said my labs was not being done correctly as they have them in 15-20 minuets of drawing blood the nurses brings them in while I’m in with the doctor. She said it was at lest a day make st was 3-5 days to get estrogen levels back from any lab here and only a fast total T test was that quick.
