Off-pill PMS Help Please

Postby TheHubby » Wed Mar 27, 2013 9:32 am

My wife and I decided she should go off the pill. During the 2 weeks before her period she had wild moods swings and feelings of anxiety. The reson she originally went on the pill years ago was to help with her mood swings. She she wants to go back on the pill to get herself under control, but I'm not sure this is good since the reason we decided she should go off of it was the intense hormones. Are there any natural aides to help with her mood swings?

You can find PMS tea at your local health food store. In addition be sure she gets some good dark chocolate which really does help her serotonin levels during that time. Also in the PMS phase of her cycle watch her salt intake.

It might have been better to go from the pill she was taking to the mini pill for a couple months rather than quitting hormonal birth control cold turkey. Especially if her body has a tendency to overproduce hormones in the first place.

I always had good luck with progesterone cream used every day applied to the insides of my forearms. I also used a vitamin B complex. The combination was helpful.

Does she need to talk to her doc to get the progesterone cream?

Some doctors will prescribe progesterone cream (if they are bioidentical hormone replacement specialists), but you can buy an over-the-counter type like this one at GNC: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?pr ... 4&kwCatId=
