This song is very encouraging and inspiring for singles

Wait For Me by Rebecca St. James
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooAi3KJ5I-s

Darling did you know that I
had dream about you
Waiting for the look in your eyes
When we meet for the first time
Darling did you know that I
pray about you
Praying that you will hold on
Keep your loving eyes only for me

I am waiting for
Praying for you, darling
Wait for me, too
Wait for me as I wait for you
I am waiting for
Praying for you, darling
Wait for me too
Wait for me, as I wait for you
Darling, wait

Darling did you know I dream
about life together
Knowing it will be forever
I'll be yours and you'll be mine
And darling when I say
'Til death do us part
I'll mean it with all of my heart
Now and always, faithful to you

Now I know you may have made mistakes
But there's forgiveness and
a second chance
So wait for me darling
Wait for me
Wait for me

This is my hubby and my relationship while we were in college back when we were "just" best friends. I even called our local Christian radio station and had them play it when he'd be listening so I could express my thanks to him. He still covers me in prayer, washes me in the Word and is my best friend to this day!

More Than You'll Ever Know by Watermark
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNlvE2cjH24

Something brought you to my mind today
I thought about the funny ways
You make me laugh
And yet I feel like it's ok to cry with you
Something about just being with you
When I leave I feel like I've been near God
And that's the way it ought to be, yeah

(chorus)
'Cause you've been more than a friend to me
You fight off my enemies
'Cause you have spoken the truth over my life
And you'll never know what it means to me
Just to know you've been on your knees for me
Oh, you have blessed my life
More than you'll ever know
Yeah, yeah, yeah, more than you'll ever know
Yeah, yeah, yeah

You had faith when I had none
You prayed God would bring me a brand new song
When I didn't think I could find the strength to sing
And all the while I've been hoping that I'll
Do the kind of praying for you that you've done for me
And that's the way it ought to be, yeah

(chorus)

You've carried me
You have taken on a burden
That wasn't your own, yeah
May that blessing return to you
A hundred fold
Oh yeah, a hundred fold

(chorus)

This song is like a swift kick in the pants that I need every now and again. The words make you wince because of the conviction. Definitely inspiring me to hold tight to my love for Jesus

Lost The Plot by Newsboys
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tFho9zJFR2U

When you come back again
would you bring me something from the fridge?
Heard a rumor that the end is near
but I just got comfortable here.
sigh.
Let's be blunt.
I'm a little distracted.
What do you want?

Headaches and bad faith
are all that I've got.
First I misplaced the ending
then I lost the plot.

Out among the free-range sheep
while the big birds sharpen their claws.
For a time we stuck with the shepherd
but you wouldn't play Santa Claus.

sigh.
Let's be blunt.
We're a little distracted.
What do you want?

Once we could follow,
now we cannot.
You would not fit our image,
so we lost the plot.

Once we could hear you,
now our senses are shot.
We've forgotten our first love.
We have lost the plot.

When I saw you for the first time
you were hanging with a thief
And I knew my hands were dirty,
and I dropped my gaze.
Then you said I was forgiven
and you welcomed me with laughter.
I was happy ever after.
I was counting the days
when you'd come back again.
we'll be waiting for you
When you comin' back again?
we'll be ready for you
Maybe we'll wake up when...
maybe we'll wake up when
you come back again.

lies.
Let's be blunt.
We're a little unfaithful.
What do you want?

Are you still listening?
'Cause we're obviously not
We've forgotten our first love
We have lost the plot.

And why are you still calling?
You forgave, we forgot.
We're such experts at stalling
that we've lost the plot.
lost the plot

When you come back again
would you bring me something from the fridge?
Heard a rumor that the end is near
but I just got comfortable here.

these are really speaking to me as of late.. when all our issues, what ever they may be, are closing in around us... MUSIC.. is my love language .. thanks for starting this thread.. thank you thank you!! .. TEARS!!! ( in a good way )
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=p ... M1F3MI974M

".....I would not be here tonight, If I had to choose, It's always the bigger things in life, That seem to choose you.. You can say what you want, Believe what you will believe, yeah.. But I’ll take what I want, And see what I need to see..

When I’m buried in the questions, I can find the answers, I close my eyes and listen, Till I remember , Everything is beautiful...
Just close your eyes and remember, Everything was beautiful, Everything is beautiful…... Here ... "

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIZitK6_IMQ

Hold it all together
Everybody needs you strong
But life hits you out of nowhere
And barely leaves you holding on

And when you’re tired of fighting
Chained by your control
There’s freedom in surrender
Lay it down and let it go

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held

If your eyes are on the storm
You’ll wonder if I love you still
But if your eyes are on the cross
You’ll know I always have and I always will

And not a tear is wasted
In time, you’ll understand
I’m painting beauty with the ashes
Your life is in My hands

Lift your hands, lift your eyes
In the storm is where you’ll find Me
And where you are, I’ll hold your heart
I’ll hold your heart
Come to Me, find your rest
In the arms of the God who won’t let go

DH and I have been enjoying this one lately and he's working up a version to use at church:

IN CHRIST ALONE

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
This Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
Here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! - who took on flesh,
Fullness of God in helpless babe.
This gift of love and righteousness,
Scorned by the ones He came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay,
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious day
Up from the grave He rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand:
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
- See more at: http://www.stuarttownend.co.uk/song/in- ... MniOz.dpuf

That third stanza never fails to give us both goosebumps! With all that's going wrong in our world today, these lyrics give us comfort and remind us to keep our eyes and hearts fixed on heavenly things.

Love this song when all seems lost!!.. I have to hold on to this tight lately..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GKMjEvF2Fkw

"Lay your head down tonight..Take a rest from the fight.. Don't try to figure it out.. Just listen to what I'm whispering to your heart...Cause I know this is not Anything like you thought the story of your life was gonna be.. And it feels like the end has started closing in on you, But it's just not true..There's so much of the story that's still yet to unfold....And this is going to be a glorious unfolding..Just you wait and SEE and you will be amazed..You've just got to believe the story is so far from over..So hold on to every promise God has made to us..And watch this glorious unfolding..."

I like this song. I especially like the line "When shall I see my Father's face and in His bosom rest.

On Jordan's Stormy Banks I Stand / Bound for the Promiced Land

Samuel Stennett 1787

On Jordan’s stormy banks I stand,
And cast a wishful eye
To Canaan’s fair and happy land,
Where my possessions lie.

Refrain:
I am bound for the promised land,
I am bound for the promised land;
Oh, who will come and go with me?
I am bound for the promised land.

Oh, the transporting, rapturous scene
That rises to my sight!
Sweet fields arrayed in living green,
And rivers of delight!

O’er all those wide, extended plains
Shines one eternal day;
There God the Son forever reigns,
And scatters night away.

No chilling winds or poisonous breath
Can reach that healthful shore;
Sickness and sorrow, pain and death,
Are felt and feared no more.

When I shall reach that happy place,
I’ll be forever blest,
For I shall see my Father’s face,
And in His bosom rest.

Filled with delight my raptured soul
Would here no longer stay;
Though Jordan’s waves around me roll,
Fearless, I’d launch away.
The secret to having everything is believing you already do!

In the Summertime by Bob Dylan

I was in your presence for an hour or so
Or was it a day? I truly don’t know
Where the sun never set, where the trees hung low
By that soft and shining sea
Did you respect me for what I did
Or for what I didn’t do, or for keeping it hid?
Did I lose my mind when I tried to get rid
Of everything you see?

In the summertime, ah in the summertime
In the summertime, when you were with me

I got the heart and you got the blood
We cut through iron and we cut through mud
Then came the warnin’ that was before the flood
That set everybody free
Fools they made a mock of sin
Our loyalty they tried to win
But you were closer to me than my next of kin
When they didn’t want to know or see

In the summertime, ah in the summertime
In the summertime when you were with me

Strangers, they meddled in our affairs
Poverty and shame was theirs
But all that sufferin’ was not to be compared
With the glory that is to be
And I’m still carrying the gift you gave
It’s a part of me now, it’s been cherished and saved
It’ll be with me unto the grave
And then unto eternity

In the summertime, ah in the summertime
In the summertime when you were with me

America: Lonely People

Postby Job29Man » Wed Dec 23, 2015 8:45 am

When I was a junior in High School I was unsure about my abilities. Sometimes I was afraid to try things, afraid of failure, of rejection. Then the group America released
"Lonely People". It gave me perspective... The lyrics prompted this conversation in my head...

Man(nobody said "Dude" in those days) What's the worst that can happen to me if I just "try?" Nothing serious really.
So why don't I just try?........ Yeah man, do it, just do it! Give it a try! You never know until you try.

I remember sitting by the Stereo LP Player, listening to that track on the record, then picking up the arm and resetting the needle back at the beginning of the track and listening to this same song, over, and over, and over... many times. I did not yet really know Jesus, but I was quite spiritual as a Catholic. I had the raw material to succeed at some things, but not yet the self-confidence. This song helped to build that assurance in me.

As a very committed Christian today I find it a little humbling and embarrassing to say that this pop/rock song made a bigger impact on my personality than any other song or poem. Since then I've taken many risks, dared large, failed sometimes but never regretted making an attempt at something small or great.

America wrote:
Lonely People

This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup
And ride that highway in the sky

This is for all the single people
Thinking that love has left them dry
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup
You never know until you try

Well, I'm on my way yes, I'm back to stay
Well, I'm on my way back home, (hit it)

This is for all the lonely people
Thinking that life has passed them by
Don't give up until you drink from the silver cup
And never take you down or never give you up
You never know until you try
Wanting to become like Job, as described in the Bible, the book of Job chapter 29. Hence the screen name.

Violet- i love both of those songs! That is just precious how you and husband were best friends before you were dating and you called a radio station to play that song for him... <3 haven't heard it in a long time... maybe i'll play it for my husband later today!

Re: the Rebecca St. James "Wait For Me", her story is very inspiring. I read that she waited till she was 33 years old! What a testimony, because through her journey she inspired and encouraged many girls to do the same. And at her wedding they exchanged purity rings. I found a clip where she tells the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_-A31uF6bg :)

I was planning on taking a break from TMB until after Christmas, so I could concentrate on more important things(total, uninterrupted attention to DW), but as I was putting together a romantic evening tonight, I tripped over an album on my IPOD.

Just wanted to post this one if someone might take some comfort from it.
The album is Josh Groban - Closer.

The song is "My Confession"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2xPoobzsQQ

I used to go back country skiing alone in RMNP, and I would play that album at full volume, and between the music, and the grandeur, so much of my troubles(and they were near overwhelming then) would melt away for just awhile.

The album is always wonderful, but that song has new meaning to me now, and as much as it brought me to my knees before, it is that much more powerful now.

My Confession

I have been blind
Unwilling
To see the true love
You're giving
I have ignored every blessing
I'm on my knees
Confessing...

That I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face
I am staggered by your beauty
Your unassuming grace
And I feel my heart is turning
Falling into place
I can't hide it
Now hear my confession

I have been wrong about you
I thought I was strong without you
For so long
Nothing could move me
For so long
Nothing could change me

Now I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face
I am captured by your beauty
Your unassuming grace
And I feel my heart is turning
Falling into place
I can't hide it
Now hear my confession

You are the air that I breathe
You're the ground beneath my feet
When did I stop believing

Cause I feel myself surrender
Each time I see your face
I am staggered by your beauty
Your unassuming grace
And I feel my heart (is turning)
Falling into place
I can't hide it
Now hear my confession

I can't hide it
Now hear my confession

Hear my confession
(And I feel my heart is turning
Falling into place)

Isn't it cool how many love songs are really great praise/worship songs if the object of our affection, when we're singing them, is the Lord?

I struggle alot w/ anxiety and i have panic attacks every few weeks or so. This week i had one morning where I had intense anxiety. During those times I need to pray through them; it's just one of those things that keeps me clinging to Him. After calming down, I was in the car, and put this song on. "I'm not gonna worry, I know that you've got me right inside the palm of your hand".Even when it hurts Even when it's hard Even when it all just falls apart; I will run to You cause I know that you are Lover of my soul healer of my scars. You steady my heart". Those words helped to calm my heart and focus me on the Lord of peace.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=velIcnS-Agw

Wish it could be easy
Why is life so messy?
Why is pain a part of us?
There are days I feel like
Nothing ever goes right
Sometimes it just hurts so much

But You're here
You're real
I know I can trust You

I'm not gonna worry
I know that You've got me
Right inside the palm of your hand
Each and every moment
What's good and what gets broken
Happens just the way You plan

You are here
You're real
I know I can trust You

Even when it hurts
Even when it's hard
Even when it all just falls apart
I will run to You
'Cause I know that You are
Lover of my soul
Healer of my scars
You steady my heart

And I will run to You
And find refuge in Your arms
And I will sing to You
'Cause of everything You are

You steady my heart

I'm not gonna worry
I know that you've got me
Right inside the palm of your hand

_______________________________________________________________________

One more... Unredeemed by Selah has been a special song of so many truths for a long time

For every choice that led to shame
And all the love that never came
For every vow that someone broke
And every life that gave up hope
We live in the shadow of the fall
But the cross says these are all

Places where grace is soon to be so amazing
It may be unfulfilled, it may be unrestored
But when anything that's shattered
Is laid before the Lord
Just watch and see; it will not be unredeemed.

Merry Christmas everyone.

Vanessa Williams' "Go Tell It On The Mountain/Mary Had a Baby" always finds a way into my playlist this time of year...it is such a powerful song... that even before I really knew the truth of Jesus, it resonated with me. And 20 years later, it is still a favorite! :D

This is on my playlist right now, with lots of repeats.

No Longer Slaves

You unravel me, with a melody
You surround me with a song
Of deliverance, from my enemies
Till all my fears are gone

I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

From my mothers womb
You have chosen me
Love has called my name
I've been born again, into your family
Your blood flows through my veins

I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God
I'm no longer a slave to fear
I am a child of God

I am surrounded
By the arms of the father
I am surrounded
By songs of deliverance

We've been liberated
From our bondage
We're the sons and the daughters
Let us sing our freedom

You split the sea
So I could walk right through it
All my fears were drowned in perfect love
You rescued me
So I could stand and sing
I am child of God...
God can change what people do, behavioral patterns that have been in play for decades. He can change what we do to cope, find comfort, survive conflict, to count. Rahab had done a same old thing for years...then she did something new.

Go on and ask me anything
what do you need to know
I'm not holding on to anything
I'm not willing to let go of
to be free, to be free

I've got to ask you something
but please don't be afraid
there's a promise here that's heavier
than your answer might weigh
baby it's me, it's me

it's a sweet, sweet thing
standing here with you and nothing to hide
light shining down to our very insides
sharing our secrets, bearing our souls,
helping each other come clean

secrets and cyphers
there's no good way to hide
there's redemption in confession
and freedom in the light
I'm not afraid, I'm not afraid

better than our promises
is the day we got to keep them
I wish those two could see us now
they never would believe how
there are different kinds of happy
different kinds of happy
there are different kinds of happy
different kinds of happy

it's a sweet, sweet thing
standing here with you and nothing to hide
light shining down to our very insides
sharing our secrets, bearing our souls,
helping each other come clean

This song is beautiful to me, and came to mind today and I listened to it a few times. I had heard it a few years back, but wasn't captured by the words. Tomorrow marks 4 years since my Fox and I became boyfriend and girlfriend. The day we first looked into each others eyes with desire and thought we were in love; that we knew what that is; even though we didn't even know each other! The day we shared our first kiss w/ each other. I remember that feeling of mutual blissful happiness of finding who you think is your soulmate. I see how the Lord has brought us a long way since then, thinking back on our relationship. When we were dating, we both hid lots of secrets from each other, scared that if the other knew the "true" us, the dirty, our pasts, our current struggles, we wouldn't love each other deeply or want each other. So we hid big things from each other. We just had fun and carefree times and didn't really think or get to know each other. Throughout our engagement, I opened my heart to him, and confessed things... it was weighing on my heart, and one night I had to come to my best friend, the man who had asked me to marry him a month before in tears and tell him about darkness in my past that I had concealed. one of the hardest things i've ever done. just recently he has done the same to me; come clean about big dark secrets, and while it hurts (this has been very hard), the Lord is healing us both from those mistakes as we bare our souls to each other and form a solid relationship now. This song is something i can really relate too. There is freedom in light, and in forgiveness. And there is bondage in lies and hiding in shame, but freedom in repentance and Truth. There are different kinds of happy, and the happiness we share as we know each other deeper is so much deeper than that happiness of our first date where we thought we were blissfully happy.

But if you tame me then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world.~TLP

Amazing by One Eskimo

I feel sweet, do you feel sweet? It's amazing
I have no skin and I feel everything, it's amazing
I feel good when you feel good
I knew I would and it's amazing

I've wanted this for so long
Now the deed has been done
We shall rise with the sun
And spend our time as one
