Looking for resources to help understand SoS

Postby seeking perspective » Wed Jul 27, 2016 3:40 pm

I'm leading a study of Passion Pursuit (by Dillow and Slattery). We're getting ready for the chapter about Song of Solomon. They talk about the imagery and symbolism that refer to sex.

I don't think they go quite far enough in explaining how all this imagery is explicitly sexual. I see the explicitness, and I think that is because I am able to simultaneously read it as both poetry and scripture.

But seeing the sexual imagery can be difficult for a lot of women, especially if they aren't poetry fans.

What I'm looking for is some links that I can share in the study that do a good job of explaining how SoS is full of explicit imagery--preferably links that are fairly accessible to regular readers (in other words, not too scholarly).

Can anyone point me to some resources I can share with the study participants?

The Peasant Princess series by Mark Driscoll got into much of that imagery. I think there were supplementary materials that might be available somewhere on the internet.
