Painful Intercourse

Postby Leah » Sat May 09, 2015 8:18 pm

Over the last six months or so, I have experienced pain during intercourse. I have never had this kind of pain before and it was definitely an interference. I mentioned it to my doctor and she has prescribed an estrogen insert which has been an immediate an incredible relief.

I am not experiencing side effects, except financial ones. It is very expensive and so far insurance is not helping much. My doctor will also support a cream from a compounding pharmacy, and we might explore that once I have run a course of this.

I get my bioidentical hormone creams from a compounding pharmacy, and none of them are covered by my insurance. My estrogen is only $27 a month though. Hopefully you can find an affordable option.

It's definitely an option I am willing to try. I'm so incredibly happy to be without the pain, that's for sure.

I've had painful IC when I was younger and about 18 months ago. Prayer from loved ones got me through it. Today I have no pain by God's grace. God is faithful.

Before I got prayer my obgyn dx me with a condition (forgot nane); he gave me a card to a specialist that dealt with only vaginal pain. I didn't have to go but such doctors do exist if you want to start asking for recommendations.

That's why I'm posting under menopause. I'm not a newlywed by a long shot and have never experienced pain like this. Fortunately, my doctor understands the needs of older women.

I have experienced occasional pain, but am wondering if it's due to less-frequent intercourse than before. Thoughts?

In my case, the pain was the reason for less intercourse. I'm one who has experienced almost no pain for the life of my marriage. This started as an unpleasant stretching, which I never had even as a virgin newlywed. It progressed markedly over time. I have a diagnosis, and the treatment helped a lot, immediately.
