I've been thinking of surprising DH with a night or two here:

https://www.sybaris.com/

It looks crazy romantic and some rooms have private, in door pools! A slide from the bedroom to the pool! :O

:o WOW!! :o Sounds good to me! I was surprised to see the prices aren't even that much higher than some of the swankier hotels' regular rooms, in some of the locations I've priced before. If it were closer, this would be ideal for us. Go for it, SR!

The bedroom has mirrors on the walls and ceiling! That could be VERY interesting! :P

DW and I have discussed that our next 'get-a-way' will be to a place with all the requisite mirrors.

We are both looking forward to that.

When we first got married we lived down the road from the Sybaris in Indianapolis. Since I'm the more romantic one, I kept going by there just to check it out (they finally gave me two shirts. Probably to make me go away! )

Sadly, we never stayed there. That was during the time I was cold and we never could seem to scrape together enough money for one night (we had 4 cardboard boxes and a tablecloth for our dining room table). Looking back, I didn't challenge the no money argument (sounds so lame now) probably because I was cold. Such an opportunity wasted. We moved before we got on our feet enough to go.

I avoid suggestions for romantic retreats because she takes advantage of them and sleeps a long time and when she is awake, sex is just not a priority. Last year, we could have gone but not really...so Valentines, anniversary, my birthday in July all came and went and she was not willing to go anywhere alone together. We got babysitters.
One place was in June in San Diego amidst pandemic with all the kids (7) but we had the upstairs loft bed that had a stairway and no door, no lock. No privacy. Sex was a hushed, limited moment in the dark. At this point I can't remember our LM moment...Kids downstairs. Beach was nearby...just not a romantic getaway.
