Brain destruction and ED due to internet porn

Postby Job29Man » Fri Jun 02, 2017 5:03 pm

This TEDx talk explains the exact mechanism wherein the use of internet pornography actually physically changes the brains of men, and how it is especially damaging to young men, and often causes ED and OTHER brain dysfunction like anxiety, depression, lack of energy, etc which is generally treated by drugs when the real cure is ending porn use.

It reminds me of so many cases on TMB where they report ED and porn use, but seldom connect the two.

I just sent the link for this talk to all my sons and to my wife.

The good news is that this is reversible.
Wanting to become like Job, as described in the Bible, the book of Job chapter 29. Hence the screen name.

at one time, I had a relapse in using porn. The link between porn and ED is surprisingly strong. I think the constant visual stimulation interferes with the normal arousal process. During this relapse, I realized I was no longer getting erections - not when I wanted one, not in the middle of the night, not waking up in the morning. Things returned to normal within a week of quitting porn.

How our brains work is not all that obvious to many of us. And of little consequence till things go amiss.

I find the whole of the ball of wax of information on porn effects and neuochemicals totally fascinating. And our impressions and experiences that seem to program us and provide an algorithm that we default to.

I keyed on several words in the video like novelty, numb, and weaker in the video! And of course the anxiety, depression and lack of energy what comes around goes around when there is not control of one's mind and or adverse actions or addictions in work porn one of them.

That was fascinating, and even though I've done a lot of personal learning on the topic, I learned a few new things today. Thanks for sharing, Job.

This talk may have brought this out - I haven't watched it yet - but there are reports out now that there has began an epidemic in Japan of early teens to 20's men who do not seek real human female companionship. They satiate themselves with pornographic material instead. Put it this way, a female could walk up to them, offer themselves and they turn it down - and not for moral reasons. They just don't get arroused by reality anymore. That is how pervasive it is in that society. I don't think it is that far behind here in America.

It is like any mind-altering drug. It will take the place of many normal things. Meth and heroin adicts don't eat. Meth adicts have starved themselves to death. I know. I live on meth-mountain. Internet porn is like the difference in smoking some heroin (old porn) and mainlining it.

I have seen that one a while back. Very good information indeed.

I'll flag this one as "use descretion before viewing" simply because this young man does not sugar coat the subject. He does not use profanity, but he paints a clear picture. His arguement is most compelling:

And this one - words from a religious man who has been to the pit and faced the beast himself. Like him, I will tell you the beast is not always what you think it is:

I loved it of course. Maybe something NOVEL about its delivery over other articles and video I have seen on the same thing. Maybe because it is well done or just caught my attention? Something like this captures me and sends me off on a host of other thoughts and wonders. Basically an addiction of mine LOL.

Question? Do we assume those users viewing porn masturbate to climax. Not explicitly identified or did I miss it. Maybe it does not matter? But sort of implied with the left hand referral.

You dont get the big hit until ejaculation - if that answers your question. Now there is some precursor that is brought on by "the chase". That is what he described as the "continual clicking", or seeking the novel. After a while, you don't find what you need the first few minutes, so you start the chase, the seeking phase - and there is some level of return from the chase itself. That too is "normal" if you think about it. When used properly, it is what keeps us dating that special one is it not? But even so, the chase effect is marginal compared to the end-game, and that only comes with ejaculation. That is the victory that is sought.

ETA: The victory is acceptance, or acceptance is the victory. Same with pursuit of real women.....
